School Results

Type your school’s results for one past exam and see where your students sit against the state — and, more usefully, against their own overall standard. Everything happens in this browser: nothing is uploaded, and there is nothing to sign in to.

Step 1 load the coded questions Step 2 type the figures from your VASS page Step 3 send the school file on

Load the coded questions

Drop in the coded question file for the paper you have results for — the same .txt file the Tag Checker uses. It tells this page which questions exist, what each is worth, and what the examiner report said, so you only ever type the figures off your own page.

Already have a finished school file? Drop that in too, or on its own, and it opens for checking and correcting rather than making you retype it. On its own it can't check the state column against anything — load the coded questions beside it and it can.

What you’ll need in front of you Your school’s VASS External Assessments — Questions/Criteria page for that exam. Your administration team runs the report; teachers are usually given their own page from it.

Type it, don’t upload it. That page carries a privacy notice, your school’s name and a teacher’s name, and none of that needs to go anywhere — not here, and not into a Claude project. What you build on this page is a short list of aggregate figures in which no student appears.

It is also the safer way round. The report prints each mean and its percentage, and the percentage is just the mean over Max — so every row checks itself, and a row only turns green when the two agree. A digit misread from a scan stays hidden. A mistyped one doesn’t.

New to all this? This page is one optional piece of a larger kit — start here. Checking the tagging on a coded dataset is a different job, and it happens in the Tag Checker.

Which paper

One page of the VASS report covers one exam. Pick the paper it belongs to, then work down the table typing the four figures from each row.

Know what you’re looking at The School column is every student taking the subject at your school, not your class. If your school runs several classes this is a faculty signal, and it isn’t a verdict on any one teacher’s work. If it runs one, school and class are the same people — worth deciding, before you pass anything on, who that comparison is for.

The figures

Four numbers per row, straight off the page. Max is filled in as twice the marks, which is the report’s own rule — change it if yours differs. If the report’s Marks column disagrees with what’s shown here, the percentages won’t reconcile: that’s the check working, and it means the paper was coded against a different mark allocation.

Send it on

This file holds your figures and a set of instructions for whoever loads them. It contains aggregate results only — no student, no teacher name, no school name unless you put one in the study field.
